Bojack Horseman is my favorite show ever, I'm so glad you talked about !!!

    4. A A

I agree with so many of your choices :) I was really impressed with Fleabag, especially because I loved the second season even more than the first one which is rare. And you reminded me of how awesome Big Little Lies is. Here are a few shows I really liked throughout the years: A really heartwarming show that I have watched 3 times is Lovesick, which follows the lives of 3 roommates throughout their twenties by revisiting one roommate's past relationships. I also really liked You're the worst, which to me is a lot like Love, it is a pretty interesting look at relationships and mental health. The good place is a comedy about life after death, and The good wife is an incredibly good TV show (coming from someone who passionately dislikes lawyer TV shows) about a woman who tries to go back into law after her husband who is in the public eye cheats on her and it takes a look at her struggles, successes, the way she develops into her own person again after being "the wife of..." for a long time. I hope you like them, if you decide to watch them and I hope you stay sane :) Life is very very very slowly going back to normal here in Germany, you guys will make it, too

    5. Hatty Horscroft

theres is also a british stage play called the girlfriend experience which is a verbatim piece about a seaside brothel!! female playwright :)

    6. Hatty Horscroft

I started watching bojack in between writing my uni essay and I almost fell off my chair when dianne started talking about the third wave feminism perspective on individual sexual empowerment which is literally the topic of my essay!!!

    7. Maeve K

Daniel Sloss does NY shows sometimes! I've seen him twice now and he's incredible live!!

    8. Sarah Ward

I strongly recommend "Little Fires Everywhere", it's rare I actually sit down and watch shows especially ones that I have to wait every week for but I was sitting waiting every Thursday for new episodes to come out. In short, it follows two families one is portrayed as the 'perfect' family in the perfect suburb and when a mother and daughter move to the same suburb problems arise and so many secrets come out. i was sitting there audibly gasping at what was going down in the show, so anyone pleaseeeee watch!!!! :)

    9. mina 01

      💙

    10. Clara

Euphoria and high maintenance on HBO!! Euphoria made me cry a lot and high maintenance made me laugh because it shows how interlinked so many people's lives are just through their weed dealer.

    11. Vilde Kongtorp

if yall havent watched the bold type or mindhunter, i strongly recommend!!

    12. Ellie Jolie

Maybe a bit late, but stil want to share a french tv show that I really enjoyed and recommend. I don't really know if it is translated in english but is on Netflix : It is called "le Bazar de la charité". It's based on an historical event in Paris (a fire, most of the victims where women cuz men used their muscules to push everyone and be saved...). It's lot of drama ! if you want to sip in foreign tv show ;)

    13. Tahsina Hosaain

I would love to hear Ashley to talk about sharp objects!

    14. Katie Cheung

Hi Ashley! Do u think u will make a line of clip on earrings in the future? I really wish I could wear the broach earrings u made, but I have terrible allergies and I'm super prone to infections so I can't really get piercings... (T^T) Anyways I love ur videos! I hope u read this! (〃゚3゚〃) Stay safe fellow New Yorker!

    15. Shelley Rachelle

Parks en Rec is literally my absolute favourite!

    16. Gwenny Mumar

At first look, I thought Ashley was a Filipina grow up in states...

    17. Mica Chu

love love love these recommendations. One things, I recommend maybe using sex worker instead of prostitute. I listen to the podcast my favorite murder and they cover why wording is really important and matters and ever since I heard that I feel like it changed my perspective on it.

    18. rynnpen

      ... Mr. Robot

    19. Wina Wonders

I love, love, love Big Little Lies! It was so GOOD. Also the choice of Alexander Skarsgard as Perry was brilliant. He and Nicole Kidman did such a good job of seeming perfect and then being the complete opposite of that. The reveal of that shit show was riveting stuff. Also Laura Dern and that CEO-level rage breakdown. Was just *100 emoji x infinity*!

    20. Jay Kitty

ok but why did this video say 12years ago when i searched

    21. Madeline Miles

@tiffanyferg analyze the "manic pixie dream girl projection"

    22. thegirlwholived7

So glad you mentioned Maniac! I always wonder if I dreamt this show up because I've literally never heard anyone else talk about it

    23. Lu Shi

To be honest, I use Ashely's video to improve my English skill. And you may not believe that, I have already spent 30 minutes to figure out what she is saying in the first 18 seconds.😂😂(But I still love you so much!!!!)

    24. Sneha Amaresh

i started watching fleabag because of this vid!! its so good!!

    25. Amy Hannaford

I feel like you would like the movie gattaca. It's set in the future (even though it has a film noir aesthetic) where everyone is genetically designed and the people that are born normally are the outcasts of society. The main character tries to fake being genetically made in order to achieve his career goals. It makes you think about the nature vs nurture debate and how grit & determination can override prejudice if you're passionate enough

    26. veronica ruth

Nice little review I agree with most of your picks. Just a note, Nicole Kidman relates so well to her character in big little lies cuz she was married to Tom Cruise and he was super controlling, and from what I heard over the years, violent, manic and at the least verbally abusive. I think the show means a LOT to her because of that. I like all the scenes with her because I think that she weaves a lot of their life together into that role. I really dislike Tom Cruise and love it that she can do this show to stick it to him. I heard an interview with her where she as much as said that it was like her own story. Cruise took their adopted kids from her when they divorced.

    27. okow tina

just watched fleabag and honestly hey heart is broken i wanted her to end up with the priest so badly

    28. noor

have u seen midnight gospel? as someone who is a big fan of animation it’s nice to see an animated show for adults that doesn’t have a deliberately ugly art style loll

    29. rslouis66

Eeeeeewwwwwww.....FRsel actually had the audacity to stick a Trump campaign ad inside your video, Ashley!! Sacrilege!! I cannot wait until January 20th....when Trump is GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONE!!!

      1. okow tina

don't really feel like writing them out.

    30. Abigail Alvarado

I LIKE JANE THE VIRGIN FROM NETFLIX

    31. Karoline Rodrigues

      Please watch communityyyy

    32. Louise Bainco

      Fleabag is so fucking good

    33. Avani Galande

Brooklyn Nine-Nine. One of the greatest shows ever made.

    34. kytana winn

Try watching “ Sense 8 “ on Netflix. Its a world wind of show that made me laugh, cry, shout and everything in between.

    35. Victoria Step

      you should watch high fidelity

    36. Julia Pelio

I can't believe no one mentioned "Dead To Me" such a cool tv-show. there are 2 season both are just awesome (if you like black humor)

    37. Eleanor McConnell

Glitch on Netflix is super good and alternative and Its got some very genuine acting with messy relatable characters and a great plotline. Also its the first Australian series I've ever watched so that's cool. Also I am obsessed with both the movie and series 'what we do in the shadows' about vampire roomates and their strange relationships with each other directed by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi two comedy legends. So if you want some strange humour that's a good show.

    38. beggy kim

i love when she coughs and says something 🤪🤪

    39. Callie Jones

Honestly breaking bad is sick, basic I know but I just love Aaron Paul so much. Also When They See Us on Netflix is absolutely phenomenal, especially with the racial attacks we are seeing right now.

    40. ash

i'm a little bit disappointed that she doesn't watch rick and morty 🥺

    41. Peter Lustig

omg so fake.. even if you studied film you can still bad at it.

    42. Juan Manuel Romero

dont forget to watch MASTER OF NONE!

    43. Ruby 123

you NEED to watch Inside no.9

    44. Kim H

Shows I've been loving -Please Like Me (Hulu, it is an absolute favorite) -The Great (Also Hulu, I'm pretty sure Hulu saw that Netflix's shows were slowly getting worse and are taking the opportunity) -The Magicians (Netflix, it's made by the sci-fi channel, so sex jokes are all around. You will fall in love with the characters and very few cliches.) -Russian Doll (Netflix, okay maybe I was a bit hard on Nexflix before, but can you blame me? They literally created Tiger King. This show was awesome and dark.) There are others, but I don't really feel like writing them out.

    45. Emma Higgins

Harlots on Hulu is really good

      1. Emma Higgins

Also Little Fires Everywhere (similar to Big Little Lies) and Brooklyn Nine-Nine

    46. Arely Rguez

Many I've seen and love, added a few more to my list and would totally recommend Sherlock. I watched it just a few weeks ago and literally haven't shut up about it since lol I've recommended it to every fucking body I talk to. Seriously Ashley, it's so fucking good and well produced and written and cast, omg I love everything about it SO much.

      1. Arely Rguez

And I know it's and old show but I can't understand why I didn't watch it before, hands down my favorite and even knocked off BB, Maniac and many other favs.

    47. Jelly Jynx

Girl you are so selfish I can't stand it anymore!!! It's like a "I want to look away but I can't" situation. Please learn from your mistakes. Just lost a subscriber.

    48. Samara Woolfolk

#1 Your intro "spect"ory monologues. ...tops. #2 Loved these reviews and learned a lot about the language to use when talking about shows. Wish more friends would talk with me like this. Nice to listen to, I can relate.

    49. Moa Arvidsson Blomberg

b i love you but we don't talk about fight club

    50. for pweds

      Thoughts on anime?

    51. JustMe

Ashley gets me. I love all of these shows, maybe except for Fargo.

      1. JustMe

I've watched The Girlfriend Experience and loved it.

    52. Cory Does Stuff

      I started 30Rock maybe 1.5 weeks ago? I’m on season 4 now

    53. Ron

first time im leaving a comment and it’s in this video. I LOVE THIS

    54. Laura May Caulfield Martínez

      Chernobyl!!!

    55. Julia

two Italian hands - how good movies should be measured.

    56. Rafaela Queirós

I highly recommend a Netflix tv show called "Mindhunter", it's super addicting and, in my opinion, has an amazing storyline. By the way, I love your videos!

    57. Athenes P

I am the dumbest person Ik I have always thought it was a ZIT Com

    58. M S-W

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE look up Charlie Brooker's series how TV ruined your life. It is so so so dark and funny. The episode on love is one of the funniest and bleakest things I have watched.

    59. sweet creature

WILFRED with Elijah Wood oh god you of all people would like this one, that is genuinely dark, deep, weird and funny it's about a depressed (oops) guy who talks to his neighbour's dog and the acting is sooooooooo good that is the best show i've binge watched in years and i love it it is kinda hard to find a good comedy

    60. Russel Ü

Can you make sewing projects again?

    61. TEN POINTS TO JULES

i would HIGHLY recommend Russian Doll! it is truly phenomenal.

    62. Sara Razafimandimby Våje

i would recommend the society. Its about a highschool class that get trapped outside the rest of the world, and they have to start their own little society, and the show reflects some of todays' societys' problems. bad explanation, but FIRE SHOWWW

    63. vhairi rohanne

Clearly all UC film classes cover the Uncanny Valley 😅

    64. lucy vlogging

As a British person, I recommend fleebag, years and years and crashing. They are really really good!

    65. Mars

i fuckin love Bojack but i suggest watching it in a bit healthier mental state. I watched it pretty young and some scenes were somewhat triggering. Rewatched now that im older and more emotionally/mentally mature and im able to absorb the show better

    66. Luo Rui

Fleabag IS really AMAZING! I love Phoebe!! Glad we have same tase😉

    67. Genevieve Fairley

Mindhunters is a different breed of good if you like crime shows Also I've been watching new girl for weeks and to see that Ashley likes it too really validates me

    68. speed? jewish.

I feel like underrated was kind of loosely used in this video- I really enjoy film and tv show analysis, but I feel like this was just a little lacklustre, it was very shallow and kind of the bare bones of a review, maybe if you ever decide to make another video like this you could go more in depth on why each show you enjoy could be enjoyable to anyone else considering starting a new series? I may have just expected a bit more since "according to a film major" was in the title, which just makes it sound like the reviews would maybe have had a little commentary on each show, that would motivate some type of discussion about the shows you think everyone should watch.

    69. Supernova fm

I didn't think that it would be that interesting

    70. Carolynn Rose

ASHLEYYYY I just finished the 4th episode of years and years. That I started watching as soon as I finished this video. WHY DIDNT YOU WARM ME 😭 On a side note: the cable girls is amazing, it's a Spanish drama in Netflix, it's sooo good

    71. Tatiana Moreira

You just listed all the shows my boyfriend listed me to see becase I am like 10 years late concerning to tv shows. :'(

    72. lilmil

Big Little Lies, Barry and Ozark are the best shows since Breaking Bad. In my opinion, Big Little Lies and Breaking Bad are the greatest shows of all time. BLL and This Is Us are my favorite though. Edit: just a couple minutes into big little lies, it became one of my favorite shows ever and eventually my favorite

    73. lilmil

If anyone works at netflix or in the industry, plz hook me up😂

    74. Emily Moncure

What about Rick and Morty, it's such a vibe!

    75. Nooz Azun

If you guys liked gillian in “love” you should definitely check out her other show “community” which is on Netflix, it’s very funny and amazing

    76. BAO NGO

I loveeeed this! Please do more!!

    77. Larissa Liwanag

girl you made points except for when you said big mouth is good flcbfkdbd ugliest looking show with the such a bad script

    78. Marina K

I highly recommend Barry on HBO, it is SO GOOD!! Its a dark comedy about a depressed former marine who is a currently depressed hit man, his boss/uncle/father figure sends him to LA for a hit but he ends up taking an acting class. The show follows him trying trying to keep the little life he found in this acting class while he keeps being dragged back into the hitman world by others and his own bad decisions. The writing is amazing and all the characters are so well developed, its incredibly funny, the cinematography is beautiful and the story is compelling idk what else to say to make you watch it. Written by and stars Bill Hader (hes friends w john mulaney if thats helps)

      1. bilishu aliss

These are awesome but small correction~ Fleabag is in her 30's :) 33 in season 2 (just cause us 30 somethings need some love too!)

    79. Lyana Batrisyia

I seriously need more of this type of content! Also I would like to recommend something I recently watched and found it very interesting: american psycho
